Fall Update
Hello Tiger Families!  The semester is flying by and we are almost ready to end the second grading period.  Our fall sports teams have ended their seasons, but soccer remains in post season play!  Our choir and band programs are now focused on their various concerts and competitions and will be practicing diligently for their trip to Tan Tar A to perform for the Missouri State Music Association's annual conference.  This invitation is a trememdous honor and we are very proud of these students.  There are also many activities happening in Our House.  Student Council is planning their annual Food Drive, Leadership is working bringing in a speaker and video to discuss bullying in schools, our winter sports are gearing up for their first game dates, and varoius other service learning groups are working on special activities of their own.  All in all OHS is a happening place.  Our students and staff dressed up for Halloween this year.  I was very proud of those students who participated and  followed the guidelines!  We will be doing this next year as well.
In a few short weeks we will be looking at the end of the semester and final exams.  These exams will be 12/19 (8th block only) and 12/20 & 21.  The 20th and 21st are half days. Please try to plan holiday out of town trips around these dates. Help you student stay focused as the holiday season ramps up!
Opening Day!
Hello Tigers!  It was a great opening day in Our House!  The spirit assembly was great! I especially like the spirit displayed by our new Tiger Freshmen!  They will earn the spirit stick first!  That's a challenge to the other classes.
We are beginning activities soon with Soccer opener and Football opener next week.  Check the activities and athletic links for details.  Also next week Wednesday is open house (Sept. 22), and I sure hope to see you there!
It's going to be a great year!
Mid summer at OUR HOUSE
Happy summer tigers!  Hopefully everyone is enjoying the summer and are having some fun while trying to stay cool in this record breaking heat!  We have been very busy at OUR HOUSE since summer school began in June.  Custodians are busy cleaning and making everything beautiful again.  Our maintenance department is busy building our new school store which will be located off the commons. This is a gift from the class of 2011.  We are also anxiouxly waiting for our new bronze tiger to arrive.  This will be placed in the center of the commons and is a gift from the class of 2012.  These gifts will be great additions to our building.

Fall sports teams have been practicing, camps were held in June and are continuing to be held for football this month, and many teachers have already been preparing for next year.

Make sure you surf the website for information as there is a lot here.  Enjoy the rest of the summer!  The 2012-13 school year is just around the corner!
May 2012
Dear Tiger Parents!
This school year has literally flown by us. Even students have told me they can’t believe it is the end of the year already. During the next eight days, it is very important that students remain focused and make good choices. While it is exciting for students, especially seniors, to end the year, we want to maintain the academic integrity in “Our House” so students finish strong.

Final exams begin Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in eighth block and continue with half days on the 17th and 18th. School is officially out at 11:30 on May 18. Senior Parents: Graduation practice and breakfast is June 1 beginning at 8am with practice following. Graduation ceremony is June 3 at 2pm at the Family Arena in St. Charles. You should have received a letter outlining details for that day.

There have been some changes this year, and we hope that you found them to be positive for the school and your student.  Next year we will continue to find ways to celebrate our students’ and staff’s successes, maintain academic excellence, and cultivate the development of good character for our students. We welcome any comments or suggestions either through emails, a phone call, or a visit.

Please have a relaxing and safe summer! We wish our seniors good luck as they continue their journey through life and hope our returning students come back in the fall refreshed and ready to learn! From “Our House” to your house…have a FANTASTIC SUMMER!

April Principal Letter

Dear Tiger Families,
It seems impossible to me that we only have six weeks of school left, and my first year as Principal of OHS is almost complete. I would like to thank all of you who have made this a great year in “Our House!” With that being said, I still want to encourage everyone to keep focused on academics so all students can finish strong and look forward to next year.
For those of you who have seniors, I am sure you’re asking yourselves, “weren’t they just in kindergarten?” Graduation is June 3 at 2:00pm in the Family Arena, St. Charles. You will be getting more detailed information about the event and guidelines for the graduates in the mail soon. We will be establishing a new tradition this year. The graduates will be going through a recessional at the end of the ceremony. They will be ushered out by rows, pass through the teachers’ receiving line, and congregate outside the arena to meet up with family and friends. This will complete a dignified ceremony and help clear the arena in preparation for Mehlville’s graduation that evening.
Spring activities are in full swing. The Band received many accolades from their participation in the World Strides Heritage Performance Music Festival in D.C. the end of March. The Choir is leaving April 11 for New York City and will be performing in the National Heritage Music Festival. We hope they will also bring home some great awards.
The end of course testing (EOC) is how Missouri judges its schools. Students will take tests in Communication Arts II, Algebra I, American Government, and Biology. A percentage of these tests are figured into the final exam grade for these classes. We encourage your students to take these tests seriously as they will be a part of their semester grade. The testing will begin on April 23 and continue through May 8. Final exams for all students will begin on May 16 with 8th block final and then with May 17, and May 18 which are half days. It will be here before we know it!
Hope to see you at one of our spring activities!

Spring in OUR HOUSE!
Greetings Tiger Families,
Spring is in the air at Our House, and things are really getting busy. We have only 8 weeks of school left after Spring Break so it is really important that you help us keep your student focused. Also just a reminder for all parents: Since the weather is getting warmer, summer clothes are probably coming out of the closets. We would like your help in reminding your students that some warm weather clothes may not be appropriate for school. Thanks for your cooperation in advance.
We are beginning to receive calls about the last days of school and students missing final exams. Since our final exams are May 17, 18, & 19, I would encourage families to schedule vacations after that date. However, if a student must be absent, they will make up their final exams after their return. You will call the main office to schedule make-uptimes. Please contact your grade level principal with questions.
End of course exams will be given between April 30 and May 8. These exams will be given in Algebra I, English II, Biology, and American Government. All schools in Missouri are evaluated by how students perform on these tests so it is important that we get everyone’s best effort. These exams also represent 25% of the student’s final exam grade. We also use this information to evaluate our curriculum and make any revisions necessary to better prepare our students academically.
We hope your students have a safe and enjoyable spring break and encourage them to stay academically focused for a strong finish this year.
Happy Holiday Tigers!
It is hard to believe that the end of first semester is just around the corner!  Hopefully you have been looking at all the wonderful things that has been happening in "Our House."  We are very proud of our fall athletes and our students who have received awards for competitions in the academic arena.

January will begin the registration process.  Make sure that you begin to have conversations with your student as to what classes they need and want for next year.  If you have questions, please contact your child's counselor, and they can help you plan for next year.

Final exams will be Dec. 20 and 21. These are half days.  Please try to plan your holiday travel after these final days.  If it was not possible and your child must miss finals, please call their principal.  Finals will have to be made up upon their return to school in January.

I hope that you will enjoy winter break and have a wonderful time with your family and friends.  I look forward to beginning the New Year and second semester with your students.  It will go quickly!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Some September items
Hopefully your student has had a great beginning to the new school year in "Our House."  The first six week grading period is just around the corner.  It ends Sept. 23.  Make sure you are viewing the Parent Portal and having discussions with your student about their current academic performance.

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on October 6th. Please mark your calendars for that evening and keep checking the website and Tiger Talk for the times.

The Oakville/Mehlville football game is this Friday. Come out to "Our House" and support our Tigers.  Just a reminder that no outside food or drinks will be allowed into the game.  Plan accordingly.

Make sure to check the calendar for other events and activities and come support our students!
